Rare unknown-version NES cartridges from Wisconsin could fetch millions
A box found in Waukesha, Wisconsin contains nearly 100 copies of an unknown version of Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt for the NES, printed two years after the last known production run and featuring distinct labels, screws, manuals and motherboards. The seller says Nintendo sent the cartridges to a metal-recovery service to be melted for gold, but they were never destroyed. Some cartridges are in pristine condition and have earned the first PSA 10 grades for NES games. Three cartridges are headed to auction this month and could fetch millions.
