Metro Workers Assist in On-Train Birth in Prince George's County

Three Metro workers at the New Carrollton Metro station in Prince George's County, D.C., helped deliver a baby on a train after being summoned for assistance. The workers, Latasha Bostic, José Flores, and Thomas Adams, quickly gathered personal protective equipment and towels to aid the woman in labor. Despite the language barrier and the unexpected speed of the delivery, the workers and other passengers on the train provided support until paramedics arrived. The mother and her baby boy were then taken to a hospital, and the workers are being recognized for their heroic actions.

Asheville Police Officer Saves Shooting Victim's Life in Downtown Incident

An Asheville police officer's quick actions helped keep a victim alive in a daytime shooting downtown. The officer was on patrol when he heard gunshots and quickly responded to the scene. He found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds and immediately applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. The victim was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. The suspect is still at large and the investigation is ongoing.
