UK Deploys Single Voyager for Saudi Air Defense Against Houthis
UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham has authorized a time-limited military support package for Saudi Arabia, involving a single Royal Air Force Voyager aircraft to provide air-to-air refueling. The operation, set to begin within days, is strictly defensive and aims to help Saudi jets intercept Houthi missiles and drones. Burnham cited the need to protect Red Sea shipping lanes and mitigate cost-of-living pressures, while the arrangement follows recent Houthi advances in Yemen, including the seizure of the port city of Mokha.
