Cold Case Cracked: Iowa Teen Identified as Victim of Notorious "Scorecard Killer" After 49 Years

The identity of an Iowa teen, believed to be one of the earliest victims of the notorious "Scorecard Killer" Randy Kraft, has been revealed after 49 years. The teen, previously known as "John Doe," has been identified as Michael Ray Schlicht of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Kraft, who is currently incarcerated, was convicted of killing 16 men in Orange County and is suspected of additional murders in California, Oregon, and Michigan. Schlicht's body was found in 1974, initially ruled as an accidental death, but subsequent similar deaths led investigators to reclassify them as homicides. The case is now being investigated as a homicide, and anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.

Cold Case Breakthrough: 49-Year-Old Serial Killer Victim Finally Identified

Authorities have identified the suspected victim of serial killer Randy Kraft nearly 50 years after his murder. Michael Ray Schlicht, believed to be one of Kraft's early victims, was last seen in April 1974 and his body was found later that year. Using investigative genetic genealogy, the Orange County Sheriff's Department identified Schlicht's possible grandparents, and a DNA sample from a woman believed to be his mother confirmed his identity. Kraft, known as the Scorecard Killer, was convicted in 1989 for the murders of 16 young men and is suspected of killing many more. The case remains under investigation.
