Chicago sets record for simultaneous Malört shots at West Loop bar
On August 30, 2026, nearly 2,000 people gathered at Recess in Chicago's West Loop to attempt a world record for the largest mass of people drinking a shot of Malört simultaneously. The event, organized by Everleigh Entertainment and Jeppson's Malört, raised funds for Ravenswood Community Services. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker participated by serving shots, and the record was officially set at 7:50 p.m.
