Christopher Nolan confirmed in a recent interview that his highly anticipated film, Oppenheimer, has "zero" VFX shots. Known for his preference for realistic work over CGI, Nolan recreated the testing of an atomic bomb without the use of CGI. Oppenheimer, adapted from the book American Prometheus, tells the story of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer and features a stellar cast including Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, and Robert Downey Jr. The film is set to release on July 21, 2023, and will compete with Mission Impossible: The Dead Reckoning Part One and Barbie.
