Kenyan doomsday cult death toll surpasses 300 with more bodies recovered.
The death toll in the investigation of a Kenyan cult that practiced starvation to "meet Jesus Christ" has surpassed 300 after 19 new bodies were found in a forest near the Indian Ocean town of Malindi. Most of the bodies are believed to belong to followers of Paul Nthenge Mackenzie, a taxi driver-turned-preacher who has been in police custody since April 14. The case has led to a debate on the regulation of religious worship in Kenya, which has 4,000 "churches", according to official figures.
