Kim Petras Seeks Exit From Republic Records Over Delayed Album Detour

Kim Petras publicly asked to be dropped by Republic Records, claiming her completed album Detour hasn’t been given a release date or payments to collaborators, and that she wants to self-fund and self-curate her music. Petras notes she’s been with Republic since 2021 and rose to prominence with the Sam Smith collaboration “Unholy,” but says she will drop Detour regardless and there’s no clear timeline for a label release; Republic did not comment at press time.
