Buddy Defies Predictions to Set Records for Roadside Attractions
The R-rated horror comedy 'Buddy' has shattered box office expectations, securing the No. 6 spot with $5.36 million in its opening weekend. This performance marks the highest debut for Roadside Attractions since the pandemic and the best in Saban Films' 12-year history. The film, which features a sinister unicorn host from a 1990s children's show, defied pre-release tracking that predicted only $2.5 million. Its success is attributed to a viral marketing campaign and strong word-of-mouth among young audiences, despite a mixed critical reception that describes the film as muddled but effective.
