Dave Marsh, a pioneering rock critic and biographer who helped launch Creem and wrote acclaimed bios on the Who and Bruce Springsteen, died Aug. 14 at his home in Norwalk, Connecticut, at age 76. A longtime contributor to Rolling Stone, Newsday and The Village Voice, Marsh authored more than 25 books and influenced generations of music journalism with his caustic yet insightful reviews and deep catalog of music history.
