Disputed Border Firefight Triggers Joint U.S.-Mexico Troop Deployment
U.S. officials report that Coast Guard personnel exchanged gunfire with shooters on the Mexican side of the border near Garceno, Texas, on September 26. In response, both nations have deployed hundreds of troops to the area for a joint 'mirror operation.' Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has demanded evidence of the shooting, stating her forces detected no cross-border fire, while U.S. Ambassador Ronald Johnson confirmed the deployment to disrupt criminal organizations.
