USPS Workers Speak Out Against Pay Cuts and Staffing Issues
The United States Postal Service (USPS) has rolled out its Rural Route Evaluation Compensation System (RRECS), which has resulted in pay cuts for many rural USPS employees. A postal worker and TikTok user, Kellman, has spoken out about the new payment system, saying that many co-workers have walked off their jobs. Kellman himself is losing $10,250 per year and has to work an extra day per pay period. The change in payment represents a further dismantling of USPS, particularly for rural customers. Congress has imposed significant burdens on the service, such as requiring it to pre-fund its healthcare obligations.
