Jagex Scraps RuneScape Reignited After Two Weeks of Player Backlash
Jagex has cancelled RuneScape Reignited, a new character type announced at Runefest 2026, following intense community backlash. The project, which was set to launch on December 2, 2026, would have introduced a separate economy and world-first achievements for new players. Veteran players argued this would fracture the existing community and ignore current game issues. In response, Jagex confirmed the cancellation on October 15, 2026, while maintaining that other December updates, including an Adventure Guide and a free trial, will proceed as planned.
