Maine's Massive Data Breach: 1.3M Residents' Personal Information Compromised
The state of Maine has announced that a major hack in May may have compromised the personal information of over a million people, including state employees and individuals who had contact with various state agencies. The hack exploited a vulnerability in the file-transfer software "MOVEit" and may have indirectly impacted other state agencies. Stolen data could include sensitive information such as date of birth, driver's license number, Social Security number, and health and medical information. The state is offering two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft protections to the victims.
