UK Home Secretary Defends Rwanda as Safe Haven for Asylum Seekers
UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman has stated that Rwanda is a safe country for the resettlement of asylum seekers, but has not set a deadline for the first deportations there. The UK government hopes to send thousands of asylum seekers to Rwanda as part of a £120m deal to deter people from crossing the English Channel from France in small boats. Braverman also stated that ministers were looking at various sites and vessels to house asylum seekers in the UK.
