"Star-Studded Fundraiser: Clooney and Streep Rally Support for Striking SAG Actors, Raising Millions"
George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Matt Damon, Nicole Kidman, Oprah Winfrey, and other A-list celebrities have donated $1 million or more to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation to provide financial assistance to actors facing financial crises during the ongoing Hollywood actors' and writers' strike. The strike, which aims to renegotiate compensation packages for the streaming era and establish rules around the use of artificial intelligence, has halted all movie and TV productions employing members of the Screen Actors Guild and Writers Guild of America. The SAG-AFTRA Foundation has received over $15 million in donations so far, with applications for emergency aid increasing significantly.
