Akai Opens MPC Sample Firmware to Community, Launches Keyboard Variant
Akai Professional has announced that its popular MPC Sample sampler will support custom community firmware, a move that follows the recent release of Behringer’s open-source Kick. The company also teased the Sample Key, a keyboard-based variant of the MPC Sample, which will also allow users to modify the system via AI-assisted 'vibe coding'. This shift allows users to install alternative synthesizers, such as Native Instruments Massive, directly onto the hardware.
