Canadian Wildfires Cause Schools to Limit Outdoor Activities in NY State
Schools in Onondaga County, including Syracuse city schools, Liverpool, North Syracuse, West Genesee, Jamesville-DeWitt, and Baldwinsville, are canceling outdoor activities due to the smoky haze caused by more than 100 wildfires in Quebec, Canada. The smoke has created unhealthy air quality in Central New York, with Syracuse having the poorest air quality in the state. Upstate New York is under an air quality alert for the second day in a row. The state has issued an air quality alert for virtually all of Upstate through midnight.
