Stephen Colbert led a $5 million seed round for his scriptwriting software startup Scripto, aiming to expand its cloud-based, real-time collaboration platform across Hollywood productions. Scripto, which evolved from content developed for The Colbert Report and The Late Show, lets teams work on scripts simultaneously, auto-saves revisions, and integrates with industry tools, with current users including The Daily Show, Saturday Night Live, and major award shows. Colbert, who cofounded Scripto with Rob Dubbin, says he wants to bring the tool to more writers and productions, signaling a shift from late-night hosting to a tech-focused entrepreneurial path.
