The Starfield Script Extender (SFSE) has been released ahead of the game's global launch, allowing for easier and advanced modding capabilities. Developed by the same team behind the Fallout 4 Script Extender, SFSE provides additional scripting capabilities and functionality to the game. However, it currently only works with the Steam release of Starfield, and the Windows Store and Game Pass versions are not supported. Modders have already released various mods for Starfield, including FOV and optimization mods, DLSS 2 and XeSS mods, and a PS5 Icons mod. The game is available now via early access for those with the Premium and Constellation Editions, with the official launch on September 6.
