Sega's Revival: Classic Games Return with a Rebellious Twist
Sega is reviving classic games from its dormant series, including "Crazy Taxi," "Golden Axe," "Jet Set Radio," "Shinobi," and "Streets of Rage." Sega's co-chief operating officer and CEO, Shuji Utsumi, initiated this strategy to showcase the company's edginess and rebellious mindset. Utsumi believes that these legacy series can find a second life now that the games industry has a global market large enough to sustain Sega's unique concepts. The success of franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog, Yakuza, and Persona has encouraged Sega to invest in reviving more legacy properties, including the niche 3D fighter series Virtua Fighter.
