"Lawmakers Take Aim at CEO Pay and Workplace Discrimination"
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, and Rep. Barbara Lee have introduced the Curtailing Executive Overcompensation (CEO) Act, which proposes an excise tax on companies with a CEO-to-median-worker pay disparity of at least 50 to one. The bill aims to address income inequality and the rising CEO pay that has outpaced workers' wages. The tax would apply to companies making over $100 million annually and with at least $10 million in payroll, not exceeding 1% of their gross revenue.
