48-year-old cold case murder of Montreal teen solved using DNA evidence.
Canadian police have identified Franklin Maywood Romine, a West Virginia man who died in 1982, as the killer of 16-year-old Sharron Prior in 1975. Romine's body was exhumed from a West Virginia cemetery in early May for DNA testing, which matched a sample found at the murder scene. Prior's rape and murder had gone unsolved for over 40 years. Romine had a long criminal history and had attempted to evade law enforcement by moving between West Virginia and Canada.
