Multiple Injuries in Shawnee House Fire and Disturbance, Suspect Charged
Matthew Lee Richards, a children's pastor and 7th grade English teacher, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated arson with risk of bodily harm after a house fire in Shawnee, Kansas, injured seven people. The victims, including Richards' wife and children, suffered laceration injuries of varying degrees. Richards is being held on a $5 million bond, and the investigation is ongoing.
