FBI arrests 18-year-old for plotting ISIS-inspired mass shooting at Mall of America
Federal authorities arrested 18-year-old Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud in Minnesota after he attempted to purchase an AK-47 and ammunition from an undercover agent, allegedly planning a mass shooting at the Mall of America. Prosecutors say Mohamud pledged allegiance to the Islamic State and targeted an October 24 event, intending to kill 30 to 60 people. The investigation lasted nearly two years, with Mohamud communicating with an informant via messaging apps. He faces federal terrorism and weapons charges and is scheduled for a hearing on October 19.
