Google Photos has added a toggle in version 7.85 to disable the shimmer animation, giving Android users a cleaner, static gallery; the option is off by default and can be found under Profile > Photos settings > Preferences > Photos view, and the update also adds a faster AI-powered photo capture shortcut for edits.
Kojima Productions’ Physint, a PlayStation collaboration returning to action-espionage, is advancing with new casting under the internal codename “Shimmer.” Casting details hint at multiple bus passengers and a German-accented villain similar to a Mads Mikkelsen vibe, with shooting planned for June. The project is targeting a 2030–2031 window, likely for PS6, while Kojima also pursues the horror project OD with Xbox.
