China's military drills escalate with simulated strikes on Taiwan.
China's military conducted simulated strikes on key targets in and around Taiwan on the second day of its planned three days of "encirclement" patrols and joint drills near the self-ruled island. The drills came just days after Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen's meeting with U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in California. Multiple types of units carried out simulated joint precision strikes on key targets on Taiwan island and the surrounding sea areas, and continue to maintain an offensive posture around the island.
