"Japan's Small Moon Lander Set for Launch Next Month"
The Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) is set to launch the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) mission next month, aiming to demonstrate accurate lunar landing techniques and make more challenging landing areas accessible. SLIM will target a landing within Shioli Crater on the near side of the moon and will carry out mineralogical assessments using a multiband camera. JAXA hopes that the mission will help advance our understanding of the solar system and pave the way for more economical and targeted exploration.
