Daratumumab Shows Promise in Smoldering Myeloma and Multiple Myeloma Trials
Johnson & Johnson is seeking FDA and EMA approval for Darzalex (daratumumab) as a treatment for high-risk smoldering myeloma, based on positive results from the Phase 3 AQUILA trial. The study showed a 51% reduced risk of disease progression or death for patients treated with Darzalex compared to active monitoring. While some experts are optimistic about early treatment benefits, others caution that stronger therapies may be needed for patients likely to develop multiple myeloma.
