Boston launches temporary sip-and-stroll zones to welcome World Cup crowds
Boston Mayor Wu announced two downtown 'social districts' where pedestrians can carry and sip drinks while walking, running tomorrow through July 31 in the Blackstone block (Union/Marshall) near Faneuil Hall and Boston Public Market, and along Temple Place in Downtown Crossing. Bars in these zones can stay open until 3 a.m. as part of a temporary state law prompted by World Cup crowds; the measure is set to end at the end of July.
