South Korea Offers $490 Allowance to Encourage Reclusive Youths to Leave Home
South Korea's Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has passed a new measure to offer a monthly living allowance of $490 to reclusive youths, as well as education, job, and health support, to encourage them out of their homes. The condition, known as "hikikomori," affects about 3% of the country's youth population. The new measures aim to strengthen government support to enable reclusive youth to recover their daily lives and reintegrate into society.
