Russian SolarWinds Hackers Access Microsoft Senior Leadership Emails
Microsoft has revealed that Russian state-sponsored hackers accessed email accounts of some members of its senior leadership team late last year, using a password spray attack to compromise a legacy non-production test tenant account. The attack, attributed to the group known as Nobelium, was discovered last week and did not result from a vulnerability in Microsoft products or services. While Microsoft customers don't appear to have been impacted, this incident marks the latest in a series of cybersecurity incidents for the company, prompting a major overhaul of its software security approach.
