The onset of the southwest monsoon in Kerala has been delayed by three to four days, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The monsoon usually arrives in Kerala on June 1, but this year it is expected to arrive by June 4 with a model error of four days. The IMD has forecast a normal monsoon this year despite likely El Nino conditions.
