Pierce, the largest firetruck manufacturer in North America, is electrifying its vehicles as part of Oshkosh Corporation's larger electrification plan. Pierce has already delivered its electric firetruck, the Volterra, to several fire departments and has more on the way. Oshkosh, known for producing a wide range of purpose-built vehicles, is also electrifying other vehicles such as mail delivery trucks for the United States Postal Service. The contract allows for the delivery of both battery electric and internal combustion vehicles, with the option to retrofit the latter with electric technology.
