AAA Data Reveals 19% of Massachusetts Drivers Admit to Frequent Speeding
A new AAA Foundation study indicates that 19% of Massachusetts drivers classify themselves as frequent speeders, placing the state ninth nationally. While this figure is lower than the national average of 15% for some states, it remains higher than the 15% national average. The research highlights that many drivers view exceeding speed limits by 10 mph as acceptable, despite speeding contributing to nearly 30% of traffic fatalities in 2024. Massachusetts recorded over 6,400 speed-related crashes in 2024, including 66 fatalities.
