Shimano's SPD-SLR Launch Breaks 23-Year Compatibility for Marginal Stack Gains
Shimano has officially released its new SPD-SLR pedal and cleat system, marking the first major change to its road interface since 2003. The new system offers a 2.3mm reduction in stack height and lighter components but is not backward compatible with existing SPD-SL hardware. The launch includes new Dura-Ace and Ultegra pedals, updated cleats, and S-Phyre RC910 shoes, with pricing starting at £199.99 for the top-tier pedals.
