FBI probes suspicious mailings to Capitol Hill and state election offices ahead of midterms
Federal authorities are investigating a series of suspicious mailings sent to congressional offices and state election agencies in the weeks leading up to the November 3 midterm elections. The packages, which contained unknown substances, were delivered to the offices of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other lawmakers, as well as secretaries of state in Ohio, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. While no injuries or harmful substances have been confirmed, the incidents have prompted security alerts and evacuations. The FBI and U.S. Postal Inspection Service are working to identify the sender and intercept further mailings.
