Jim Gilstrap: Soulful Voice Behind Good Times and a Wonderlove Icon Passes Away

James “Jim” Gilstrap, a renowned session singer known for belting out the Good Times theme with Blinky Williams and for backing Stevie Wonder on hits like You Are the Sunshine of My Life, died at 79 from natural causes, his family said. A long-time Wonderlove vocalist, he contributed to numerous Wonder projects, released Swing Your Daddy (1975) and the Love Talk LP (1976), and worked with a who’s who of pop and R&B legends. He is survived by his wife Gloria and their children and was the last surviving member of a family of 10 siblings.
