
UF taps Stuart Bell as 14th president, awaiting state ratification
UF's Board of Trustees unanimously selected Dr. Stuart R. Bell to become the University of Florida's 14th president; his appointment now requires ratification by the Florida Board of Governors at its June 25 meeting. Bell, formerly president of the University of Alabama (2015–2025) and an engineering leader at LSU and KU, is recognized for research on natural gas and combustion engines and holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and a B.S. in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M. He will succeed interim president Donald Landry and was named sole finalist on May 18.
