
Seaplane carrying 11 on board catches fire after emergency landing near Sucia Island
A Kenmore Air de Havilland DHC-3 Otter with 11 people aboard made an emergency landing and then caught fire near Sucia Island in the San Juan Islands, Washington. All occupants were accounted for, but several were injured and transported to area hospitals as responders from the Coast Guard, local fire departments and other agencies assisted. The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are investigating the cause. The flight had been traveling from Seattle to Roche Harbor when it went down near Sucia Island, and authorities are assessing any environmental impacts from the fire.
