BlackRock and Coinbase Partner for Bitcoin ETF Filing
BlackRock's latest filing for a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) included a "surveillance-sharing agreement" with Coinbase, as revealed in a filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The agreement, intended to supplement Nasdaq's market surveillance program, provides access to data on spot Bitcoin trades. This comes after the SEC stated that previous ETF filings with Nasdaq and the Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe) were not sufficiently clear and comprehensive, requesting additional information on surveillance arrangements. Despite numerous applications, the SEC has yet to approve any spot ETF linked to cryptocurrency investments.
