Pittsburgh Zoo unveils Kiazi, its new lion cub
The Pittsburgh Zoo’s 4-month-old lion cub Kiazi made her public debut and was named Kiazi, Swahili for potato—a nod to her Idaho-born father Hondo. The name was chosen via a public fundraiser that raised about $5,705 to support the lion pride and other animals. Kiazi spent months bonding with her parents Scarlett and Abana before the debut, and zookeepers introduced her to the outdoor habitat with a cardboard zebra lure.
