Apple Flags Global Mercenary Spyware Targeting 110 Countries
Apple says it has issued threat notifications to users in 110 countries suspected of being targeted by mercenary spyware and has notified customers in over 150 countries to date. The alerts, which indicate high-confidence targeting, come with guidance to update software, protect devices with passcodes/biometrics, enable 2FA and Stolen Device Protection, install apps only from trusted sources, enable Lockdown Mode, and avoid unknown links or attachments. Apple notes it cannot disclose specific attackers or regions to avoid aiding attackers.
