Krenwinkel Wins Third Parole Grant, Faces Newsom's Final Veto
Patricia Krenwinkel, 78, was preliminarily granted parole for the third time by California’s board on Tuesday, marking her 18th hearing. She has served over 56 years for the 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders. Governor Gavin Newsom previously reversed her two prior grants, citing public safety risks despite her rehabilitation. Krenwinkel’s attorneys argue the governor is yielding to political pressure, while victims’ families oppose her release. The decision now enters a 120-day review period before reaching the governor.
