G7 Leaders Advocate for Global Standards on Responsible AI Use.
The G7 leaders have called for the development and adoption of technical standards to ensure that artificial intelligence (AI) is "trustworthy" and in line with shared democratic values. The leaders acknowledged that approaches to achieving this goal may vary, but urged the creation of a ministerial forum to discuss issues around generative AI, such as copyrights and disinformation, by the end of this year. The EU is inching closer to passing legislation to regulate AI technology, potentially the world's first comprehensive AI law that could form a precedent among advanced economies.
