Arizona Court Vacates Road Rage Sentence Over AI Victim Video
An Arizona appeals court has vacated the 10-year sentence of Gabriel Paul Horcasitas, who was convicted of killing Christopher Pelkey in a 2021 road rage incident. The court ruled that the trial judge erred by allowing an AI-generated video of the deceased victim to speak during sentencing. While the manslaughter conviction stands, Horcasitas must face a new sentencing hearing because the AI depiction was deemed fundamentally unfair and prejudicial to the defendant.
