18-year-old charged after ramming five CPD officers during West Side after-prom chaos

An 18-year-old, Rashad Johnson of Plainfield, was charged with first-degree attempted murder, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and criminal damage to government property after allegedly driving a blue car into five Chicago police officers and a squad car as they dispersed a large after-prom gathering near Roosevelt and Loomis on the Near West Side; a gun was found in the car and all five officers were hospitalized (three in the hospital Sunday afternoon). Officials said it wasn’t clear whether Johnson was connected to the gathering, which was described as an out-of-control after-prom event at the Brooks Homes, and about 30 minutes later a 19-year-old man was shot nearby.
