Texas Judge Orders Abbott to Release Unredacted Musk Emails to Rival Hinojosa Before Election

A Travis County judge issued a temporary restraining order requiring Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s office to allow Democratic gubernatorial challenger Gina Hinojosa to review unredacted communications with Elon Musk by October 29. The ruling compels Abbott to provide access to 1,374 pages of previously collected records, many of which were heavily redacted or blacked out in prior disclosures. Hinojosa, who is not seeking to make the records public, argues her access is a statutory right as a state legislator. Abbott’s office has called the lawsuit baseless and is expected to appeal the order. A hearing on a longer-lasting injunction is scheduled for November 2, just days before the November 3 gubernatorial election.
