Autopian Editor Abandons Dream Project, Buys 1993 Jeep for $1,700
David Tracy, editor of The Autopian, purchased a low-mileage 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee for $1,700 after deciding his long-term vehicle project was unfeasible. The decision followed a week where he published an article praising early 1993 Jeeps as the best value in the brand. Although he initially found a 1993 model listed for $2,300 with minor damage, he ultimately secured a different unit for a lower price. The purchase occurred despite his wife’s request for him to focus on home repairs, highlighting a conflict between his professional passion for automotive content and domestic responsibilities.
