New York City Center Revives 'In The Heights' with Young Cast and Restored 2008 Script
Lin-Manuel Miranda’s 'In The Heights' returns to New York City Center through November 15, 2026, featuring a new ensemble led by Matte Martinez as Usnavi. Directed by David Mendizábal, the production restores the original Broadway song order, reversing changes made for the 2021 film. Critics praise the energetic choreography and vocal talent but note the show’s 2008 setting feels dated in the current political climate. The revival highlights the enduring appeal of the score despite uneven narrative pacing and a lack of explicit modern political commentary.
